Presidential Trolley Tour: Connecting WNY To The White House

November 3rd, 2012 10 AM - 4 PM

Learn about U.S. Presidents who had an impact on Western New York history, including Millard Fillmore, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt and Grover Cleveland.  The tour begins at Forest Lawn’s historic chapel, where Forest Lawn Historian, Pat Kavanagh, will lead the tour to the final resting places of Fillmore, his law partners, Hall and Haven (who served under him during his presidency), E.G. Spaulding, Red Jacket and other notables. Next, it’s on to the Hotel at the Lafayette for a tour and lunch (included) at the Pan American Grill and Brewery. Then it’s off to the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site to experience the Pan Am Expo, enjoy the Midway arcade games, hear TR's concerns about the nation and more. The tour stops at the spot where President McKinley was shot in 1901 before it continues to the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society to see the revolver used to assassinate President McKinley, a piece of Grover Cleveland’s wedding cake and Millard Fillmore’s horse-drawn carriage.  Guests will return to Forest Lawn by 4:00 p.m. Cost is $80 for the general public, $75 for BECHS members. Seating is limited; reservations are required. Call 873.9644, ext. 301.
