Chauncey Hamlin and The Science of Creating A Museum
Chauncey Jerome Hamlin was born and raised in the city of Buffalo. After school, military service, dabbling in politics and a stint as a lawyer, he shifted his focus to the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences. As its president from 1920 to 1948, Mr. Hamlin's list of accomplishments is vast. In 2011, the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences - the parent organization of the Buffalo Museum of Science - celebrated its 150th anniversary, a major milestone. Join us as Kathy Leacock, Curator of Collections at the Museum of Science, talks about the many personalities responsible for the Museum's success. Many of the Society's founding fathers now reside at Forest Lawn Cemetery, including Chauncey Hamlin.
Music will be provided by Taylor Made Jazz.
Seating is limited; reservations are required. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Forest Lawn office at 716.885.1600.
