How will you tell your story?

Cremation allows you to be as creative with your memorial as you choose, because you can create your “space.” And Forest Lawn is the only cemetery in the community where your options are truly endless. In fact, one reason our grounds are so beautiful today is the collection of unique memorials that thousands of families have created over the past 160 years.

Placing a memorial at Forest Lawn allows you to have a physical place to visit and remember loved ones, even with cremation. You can choose to have the memorial be with the remains, or separate – perhaps as a bronze leaf in our chapel, or a plaque on a tree in the cemetery.

Here are just a few of the options at Forest Lawn:

Above ground

  • Niches – these customizable spaces are designed to hold one or more urns. Niches may be made from glass, granite or bronze, and are available inside Serenity Mausoleum, or in an outdoor columbarium. Please note that glass-front niches will require an urn.
  • Cremated bodies may be placed inside a stone bench, sculpture or even a boulder.
  • Private buildings allow families to be together.
  • Estate Lots and Feature Lots let you design the space to your unique needs.
  • The Blue-Sky Mausoleum is the only opportunity in the world where one can choose memorialization in a Frank Lloyd Wright structure.

Above ground community spaces (niches) begin at $200, while private niche spaces start at $550.

In Ground – Burial of a Cremated Body

  • Private gardens are available, where you design the space however you choose.
  • The Memorial Walk is a meandering path near the lake, where remains are placed and individual stone markers serve as memorials.

In Ground – Scattering

We are pleased to offer many scattering options at Forest Lawn. New options offer a secure private permanent scattering location, with direct upright monuments or lawn level memorialization and the ability to use a bio-degradable urn if you so choose.

We offer scattering in the following locations:

  • Private scattering is available at all of our cemeteries in traditional graves where no casket burial has taken place or will take place. The private scattering may occur directly in the earth or with a bio-degradable urn directly in the earth. Click here to see our biodegradable urn options (PDF, 85kb).
  • Forest Lawn's Creekside Meadow Stone Garden, offering semi-private scattering with non-direct memorialization of a bronze plaque in a beautiful natural stone garden.
  • Community Scattering Garden features a bronze sculpture of a Bible open to the 23rd Psalm – (no individual memorialization).

Our scattering gardens start at $235.
