Actual Process of Cremating a Body
The Cremation, processing and disposition of the remains of the Deceased shall be performed in accordance with all governing Laws, Rules and Regulations, and policies of the Crematory and Funeral Home and the following terms and conditions:
- The body of the Deceased will not be accepted for cremation unless received by the Crematory in a leak-proof, combustible casket or some other rigid container suitable for cremation. The Crematory is authorized to remove and dispose of any handles, ornaments and other non-combustible items attached to the cremation container prior to the cremation.
- If the Funeral Home is not notified about any type of battery or power cell device contained within a deceased body and is not instructed to remove them, the person(s) authorizing the cremation will be held responsible for any damages caused to the Cemetery, Crematory, Crematory Personnel, and any and all persons and property injured or damaged by said lack of notice.
- The cremation container containing the body of the Deceased will be placed in the cremation chamber and will be totally and irreversibly destroyed by prolonged exposure to heat and flame.
- Any incidental items or foreign materials, including but not limited to, dentures, dental bridgework, dental fillings, jewelry, casket frame, hardware, etc., and other personal articles accompanying the body of the Deceased may be destroyed during the cremation process. If any items other than the cremated body of the Deceased are recovered from the cremation chamber, they may be separated and removed from the bone fragments by visible or magnetic selection and disposed of by the Crematory. This disposal may be either by interment on cemetery property or through the cemetery’s regular refuse management service.
- Following the cremation, the cremated body of the Deceased, consisting primarily of bone fragments, will be mechanically pulverized, which includes crushing or grinding into an unidentifiable consistency.
- Even with the exercise of reasonable care and use of the Crematory’s best efforts, it is not possible to recover all particles of the cremated body of the Deceased. Some particles may inadvertently become commingled with particles of other cremated bodies remaining in the cremation chamber and/or other devices used to process the cremated body.
- Except as set forth in this Authorization, no warranties, expressed or implied, are made by the Crematory, Funeral Home, or any of their affiliates, agents or employees.
- No one will be allowed to enter the crematory without prior permission.
- A Burial/Transit Permit and this Cremation Authorization form, which has been completed, must be received before the cremation can take place.
- The cremated body, if not claimed by the authorized individual on Page 1, within 120 days, may be disposed of in accordance with Section 4202 of the New York State Public Health Law.
