Discover Buffalo's stories...and yours!
Please note that due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic the Wendt Center is currently closed until further notice.
The Margaret L. Wendt Archive and Resource Center is an archival “center of excellence” for protecting, conserving and making publicly accessible one of WNY’s most precious assets – Forest Lawn’s collection of more than 1.2 million historic documents, including the most comprehensive family archives in Western New York, with currently over 350,000 individual family records and growing by 3,500 families per year.
It’s the story of Buffalo and Western New York, and it’s here at your fingertips - for you to discover and share. It’s also the place where you can ensure that your family’s story never ends. You can explore it, chronicle it and preserve that legacy for generations to come – whether you have family buried here at Forest Lawn or not.
It is the discovery of these stories and the many new ways that they can now be preserved and shared with the world that puts Forest Lawn at the forefront of redefining and expanding the very idea of what a cemetery is for.
